In 1995, a group of Non-IATA agents came together to discuss their role in the Industry and their inter-action with others. After several meetings over a period of 2 years we formed ETAA, which is a company incorporated under section 25 of the Companies act. The committee members as well as the general body meet several times a year to network & discuss the way forward. Presentations are made by NTO’s, Airlines, hotels, OTA’S and other service providers, on occasion, exclusively for our members and sometimes along with those from other associations. We started our 1st Chaper in Pune in 2007 and in 2009 hope to establish Chapters in Hyderabad, New Delhi & Gujarat.
We are considered the backbone of the travel industry & many benefit through the business generated by us. Since last year, TAAI, TAFI, IAAI, ADTOI, IATO & ETAA have come together to FIGHT THE AIRLINES for reduction in commission and other issues for which ETAA has whole-heartedly supported them & thus were able to project to the airlines & others that we were capable of working together and thus create solutions on a common platform. This was, in a way, recognition from our friends in the IATA fraternity that we can work together and continue to do so. In fact in Feb’06, TAFI invited us to attend their annual Convention in Singapore and once again to Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia in Sept’07 at which our President was asked to Chair and Moderate an important Session . Both events were very successful and were also attended by many of our members which gave them an opportunity to network with IATA agents from all over India besides leading Airlines, Hotels and other service providers. Recently, in Jan’09, ETAA President was invited as one of the Guest’s of Honor at the Convocation Ceremony of SpeedWings Aviation Academy in Cochin and to distribute some of the Certificates as well as deliver a Motivational Speech to the Students. Next day the President of ETAA, IAAI and TAFI Felicitated the MP’s of CPI(M) who assisted the Travel Fraternity in their fight with airlines against ZERO% commission, which was organized by IAAI.
In early 2009, a National Joint Council was formed of all associations i.e. TAAI, TAFI, ETAA, IAAI (Outbound), IATO & ADTOI (Inbound) for better Co-ordination of the Travel Fraternity. The Presidents of the associations are members of the National Joint Council for representational purpose.
