Introduction : FRRO Mumbai office deals in Registration, Extension, Return Visas and processing application for PIO cards & overseas citizens of India Scheme.
Registration : Every foreigner entering India on Employment, Business, Student and Research, Visa is required to register with the concerned FRRO, FRO within 14 days Of their arrival if their if their visa are valid for more than 180 days. However foreigner entering on Entry(X) and more than 180 days are required to register with the FRRO, FRO, S if they continuously intend to say for more than 6 months i . e. 180 days on each visit.
Apart from the above foreigners entering on Tourist, Jouurnalist and any other category of visa which is valid for more than 180 days and do not have a special endorsement of “Each stay 180 days hence no registration required “ are required to register with the concerned FRRO, FRO, S within 14 days of their arrival. |
| IMIGRATION |
The documents required for registration are as follows:
- Copy of passport and visa
- Undertaking form duly filed
- Indian passport copy / Pan card / Election card of person taking undertaking
- Contract copies if on employment visa
- Bonafide certificate from school / collage / institute and bank remittance in case of student visa
- Resident permit book to be filled available at office,
- Rs. 100/- registration fees and penal fee of US$ 30/- equivalent in Indian Rupees in case of late reporting
- Two photographs

Documents required for extension are as follows:
1. Copies of Passport, visa and resident permit
2. Copies of contract from employer / Business documents
3. Income Tax Papers
4. Undertaking form duly filled
5. Indian passport copy / Pan Card / Election Card of person taking Undertaking
6. Letter from the person or firm with whom doing business, type of business etc
7. Copy of Bill of Lading or invoices
8. Bank remittance showing that he is a person of assured financial standing
9. proof of Indian origin in case of persons seeking extension on that basis on Entry visas
10.Two photographs |
THE VISA FEE STRUCTURE IS AS FOLLOWING :
- Student visa (for duration of course or five years whichever is less, multiple entry)
- All kinds of multiple entry visa Valid for 6 months (other than transit and student visas)
- All kinds of multiple entry visa Valid for more than 6 months, but upto one years (other than transit and student visa)
- All kinds of multiple entry visa Valid for more than one year And upto 5 years (other than transit and student visas)
- When an Indian visa affixed on an old passport is transferred to a new one a service fee of US$ 5 is changed
- Visa fees are changed in local currency. Commercial / Bank exchange rate is used for converting the fees indicated in US $.
PIO (person of Indian (Origin)
Where and how to apply for PIO card?
- An application for issue / renewal of a PIO Card shall be made in the prescribed from accompanied by documentary evidence to show that the application is a person of Indian Origin.
- Prescribed application from can be obtained from the office of the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Branch ll , C. l. D. - An application for issue of a PIO Card shall be made to an Indian Mission in the country where the applicant is ordinarily resident. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE APPLICATION FOR PIO CARDS
- The application for the PIO Card as well as its enclosures / requirements (in triplicate)
The enclosures / requirements are as under :
- Applicant’s passport
- Applicant’s Residential Permit, if he/she is is registree of FRRO, Mumbai
- Apllicants birth Certificate, if he/she is born in India.
- School / Collage / University Certificate if the applicant has studied in India.
- Indian Passport if held by the applicant erlier.
- Parent’s Indian passport / birth Certificate / marriage certificate etc.
- Marriage certificate if the applicant is a spouse of a citizen of India. In such a case , copies of birth/ school / collage and of such other relevant certificates of the Indian citizen in question are also required in triplicate.
- Employment / business documents, R B. I. ‘s approval for the same etc. of the applicant.
- Proof of residence in India of the applicant such as domicile certificate, Rattion Card and Electricity Bill etc.
- 4 passport size photographs of the applicant.
- D . D , of Rs. 15,000/- fpr adults & Rs. 7,000/- for minors (below 18 years) in favour of FRRO Mumbai .
- Copy of Arrival on Old Indian Visa

| OVERSEAS CITIZEN OF INDIA
Application are also accepted at FRRO Mumbai Office for which detail information is available on website . www.mha.nic.in
In brief the eligibility is as follows : The person who was citizen of India on or at anytime after 26-01-950 or was eligible to become Indian citizen on 26-01-1950 or belonged to s territory that became part of India after 15-08-1947 and their children and grandchildren, whose present nationality is such that the country of nationality allows dual citizenship in one from or the other under local laws, will be eligible to be registered as OCI.
Applicants are requested to kindly register online on the above site and come to this office after obtaining online registration No for (eg INDMI0264504) for speedy process. The documents are required in three sets , as follows :
- Application from duly filled.
- Copy of applicant’ s Indian passport if applicant does not possess his previous Indian passport or his birth certificate.
- Present passport and valid visa copy.
- parent’s Indian passport if applicant does not possess his previous Indian passport or his birth certificate.
- Three passport size photographs.
- Demand Draft of Rs. 12,650/- drawn in favour of pay & Accounts Officer (Secretariat) MHA payable at New Delhi. For those already holding PIO card may submit DD of Rs. 1,150/-
