Mr. Jagat Mehta
National General Secretary, ETAA
Throwing light on the success of the Convention, Jagat Mehta, National General Secretary, ETAA, said, "The Convention garnered an overwhelming response in a flat 40-day record-breaking period. The Convention being our first one, acted as a learning experience and now we are aware of ways to improvise and better host our next Convention. The way in which a mere six-member team in Mumbai organised the entire Convention was a commendable effort, and gives me a sense of pride to be a part of ETAA. Our first international Convention received immense support from the travel fraternity and a special mention of Lama Tours for their brilliant arrangements. DTCM's (Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing) first offline certification registered almost 100 per cent attendance, which was voluntary and it was surprising and pleasant to see such participation."
Mr. Abhijit Khadilkar
National Joint Secretary, ETAA
The discipline and passion to learn and absorb all about Dubai displayed by the members was noticed by one and all. "Our Convention was a smashing success and was carried out seamlessly. The discipline showed by the agents was very impressive with all attendees being extremely punctual and arriving at every activity on all three days, dot on time. The DTCM certification programme saw an impressive turnout, with almost 100 per cent members attending and being present at sharp 9.00 am. A major highlight of the Convention was that all the agents attended every presentation and were very enthusiastic about learning about all the offerings of the destination. The Convention was an excellent platform to represent retail agents, and seeing the success we are looking forward to tourism boards collaborating with us to promote their destinations via our future Conventions" said Abhijit Khadilkar, National Joint Secretary, ETAA.
Ms. Dipti Thakoor
Board Member, ETAA
The USP of the Convention was its experiential aspect. Dipti Thakoor, Board Member, ETAA, said, "Organising our first international Convention was a great experience. The challenge was to give a memorable experience, with a difference to our delegates. The experience started at the airport with separate immigration counters organised by DTCM. The offline certification programme conducted by DTCM for the first time was applauded by a houseful conference hall. Arrangements for sightseeing, desert safari, etc., were very well taken care of by the Lama team. From seasoned travellers to first-time travellers, the Convention had something to offer each one of them. The grand success of the Convention is due to the combined efforts of DTCM, Lama Tours, ETAA and the delegates."
Mr. Dharmesh Advani
"This was our first experience and being a part of the committee was a lot of fun. We learnt a lot from this experience and from the other people we worked with. The response the Convention has received has made all that hard work worthwhile. Dubai turned out to be the perfect choice for this event. It was close enough to attract a lot of members. Plus it offered the perfect blend of work and relaxation. The Dubai Expert programme, lunch sessions and evening get-togethers served as apt opportunities for like-minded people to come together and learn from each other. This was, in fact, the goal of the Convention and I am happy to report that we were able to achieve it with astounding success. I would like to thank each and every member who dedicated their valuable time to organise and attend the Convention and make it such a huge success. I assure you that with your continued support, the next one will be bigger and better" added Dharmesh Advani, Treasurer, ETAA.
Mr. Shripad Deshpande
Chairman, Pune Chapter, ETAA
Many members have small set-ups and this Convention acted as a golden opportunity for them to discover Dubai as a destination at a very affordable price. Small players in the trade rarely get this kind of exposure. One of the most important and rewarding parts of this Convention was DTCM's offline training programme where all participants were awarded certificates as Dubai specialists. The entire Convention was memorable, but the Desert Safari organised by Lama Tours was most fun.
Ms. Namita Deshpande
MD, Deshpande Travels
Travelling to Dubai for the first time was a great experience. As a tourism destination it has got diverse offerings. The Convention was very well organised and was a fine mix of great foods, sights and hospitality.
Mr. M P Joy
Chairman, South India Chapter, ETAA
The first international Convention was a grand success and another feather on ETAA's cap. The strategy for the format of the Convention and the crystal-clear planning by the organising committee was commendable and the entire Convention was an excellent experience for all participants.
Mr. Sunil Deshpande
GM, Venture Holidays
The Convention was perfectly coordinated and all of us thoroughly enjoyed it. This was my first trip abroad. Dubai was a fantastic experience and having experienced its offerings personally, I would love to promote the destination now.
Mr. Pankaj Nagpal
Chairman, North India Chapter, ETAA
All three days of the Convention were action-packed and ETAA created many firsts like the offline Dubai Expert Training programme by DTCM. All supporting partners ensured a memorable experience for the delegates, right from having separate immigrations counters at the airport, choice of venues like hosting a gala dinner at a golf course and Bedouin Desert Camp, menus with a wide array of cuisines and finest wines and liquor. Arrangements made by Lama Tours were of the highest quality.
